Our rapidly expanding, award-winning craft brewery is finally opening its own exciting venue and is searching for a Head Chef to assemble, launch & drive our kitchen team. We are open for anyone to apply from a sous chef who thinks they are ready to step up to lead a kitchen right through to an experienced head chef!

The role…

A full-time, permanent position, responsible for delivering outstanding & consistent-quality food that aligns with the Thorny Devil brand. We want the main focus of our menu to be based around woodfired and smoked meats focussing on using the best of local produce. You’ll be pivotal in the development, planning & launch of our first ever food offering, initially beginning with a Thursday – Sunday, daytime only trade.  You will work closely with ownership and Venue Manager to develop the Food & Beverage offering to include large functions & events over the next 12-18 months.

Key Responsibilities:

Create and develop menus centered & complementary to the Thorny Devil Brewery range, with a strong focus on BBQ, open flame, woodfired & smoked products
Design of menus
Day-to-day operational management of all food related areas
Maintain a high level of presentation of the product & venues at all times
Coach & train kitchen staff.
Deliver on kitchen objectives & KPI’s, take part in reviews & regular meetings with management team/owners
Key Attributes:

Must Have – Prior experience at minimum sous chef level in a large, fast-paced venue
Must Have – A passion for experimenting and creativity and “keeping it local”
Ideally have experience and passion for a great BBQ/smoke-house/woodfired experience
