We are currently seeking a talented, creative and experienced Head Chef to lead the culinary team at our brand new venue – The Banksia Tavern.
Located in Busselton, Western Australia and set to open in June 2023, The Banksia Tavern will introduce a fresh and unique culinary experience to the much loved South West region. Promising a carefully curated food and beverage menu with a strong focus on local seasonal produce, regular vinyl DJs, well-crafted cocktails and local beers and wines, our new venue aims to showcase the diverse and vibrant flavors of the region and create an exciting and memorable dining experience for all of our guests.
As Head Chef of The Banksia Tavern your responsibilities will include:
– Overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, cooking, and presentation
– Offer a creative and seasonal approach to all aspects of menu design and development
– Engage with local food/farm suppliers in the region
– Manage and mentor your team, ensuring quality and consistency across the entire food menu
– Develop and maintain inventory and cost control systems to maximize profitability
– Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
– Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction
– Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a high-pressure environment

Job Requirements and Experience
– At least 2 years experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role
– Culinary degree or equivalent experience and education
– Proven ability to lead and manage a team of culinary professionals
– Extensive knowledge of food preparation and presentation techniques, new menu design and development, as well as industry trends and best practices
– Strong organizational and time management skills
– Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
– Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
