From retirement to an endless road trip – Meet the WA couple doing things right!

May 17, 2024

Did someone say work-life balance? Meet RAC Cable Beach Holiday Park receptionist and groundskeeper, Jean and Iian. Not only do they live at the caravan park in their cosy van (the best commute in the world), but the couple usually finish work around 3 o’clock, which gives them plenty of free time to go into town or to the beach to watch an iconic Broome sunset.

Jean and Iian have been living the good life on the road for three years since taking their hard earned long-service leave. A welcome change of pace from their previous lifestyle, Jean and Iian now spend their time rediscovering places they’ve visited before, and getting to fall in love with them all over again!

Between stints on the open road, Jean and Iian park up in regional hubs such as Broome, where there is plenty of seasonal work for people from all walks of life.

“You can get some good experiences and meet nice people; you get to see the lovely country and the things we have to offer in Australia.” – Iian

Working in the tourism and hospitality industry offers people like Jean and Iian the flexibility to choose the hours to suit their needs and lifestyle. There’s also a wide variety of jobs available to suit different skills, passions, backgrounds and life circumstances, with many industry employers offering on-the-job training.

With your passion, life experience and appetite for learning and adventure, you, too, can live like Jean and Iian to deliver exceptional experiences to locals and visitors alike.
