WA's thriving Hospitality and Tourism Industry

The tourism and hospitality industry contributes more than $152 billion to the Australian economy[1][2]. Following the impact of COVID-19 on the industry, employment is projected to grow 109% in the Accommodation and Food services sector over the next three years[3], alongside projected increases to employment within the tourism sector by 2025[4].The tourism and hospitality industry is one of the most diverse industries with:
    • more than 90,000 people currently employed in Western Australia
    • 45% under the age of 24 years old
    • 29% international workers.

Key Partners

Within the industry, there are several key partners across national, state and local levels.

At the national level, Tourism Australia is a key partner within the hospitality and tourism industry.

At a regional level, there are five Regional Tourism Organisations and nine Regional Development Commissions.

On a local level, we have local visitor centres, local government authorities and Local Tourism Organisations, which play a big part in the industry.
