5 reasons to attend a careers expo

April 14, 2026

If you are a student, jobseeker or considering a career change, attending a careers fair is a great way to explore your options and start shaping your future. Here are five reasons to attend.

Explore the full range of career options

Tourism and hospitality is much broader than many people realise. At a careers fair you can discover opportunities across hotels, restaurants, events, travel, attractions and tourism operations, including roles you may never have considered before.

Connect directly with employers

Careers fairs give you the chance to speak face-to-face with industry employers, from local operators to major national and international brands. You can ask questions, get advice and understand what they are really looking for in new talent.

Learn how to get started in the industry

There is no single pathway into tourism and hospitality. Whether you are still studying, just finished school or changing direction, you can explore entry-level roles, traineeships, apprenticeships and training options that lead to long-term careers.

See where a career can take you

Tourism and hospitality careers are full of progression. Many roles offer clear pathways into leadership, management, events and specialist positions, with opportunities to build experience locally and take it anywhere in the world.

Get inspired and take action

Hearing real stories from people already working in the industry can open your eyes to what is possible. More importantly, a careers fair helps you move from thinking about your future to actively planning it, with practical steps and real connections.
