Hiking Tour Guide – Karijini

Karijini is two billion years old. The gorges are narrow, the water is cold, and the nearest hospital is several hours away.  We’re hiring guides for the second half of the 2026 season.

The role at a glance
Where: Karijini National Park, Pilbara, Western Australia

Lives: On site at Karijini Eco Retreat (accommodation provided)

Starts: 1 July 2026

Length: Minimum 6 weeks. Preferred 12 weeks. Season runs through October.

Type: Seasonal contract

 

What the work actually looks like
You’ll be running back-to-back private day departures and public tours with small groups, typically 2-10 guests.

You’ll live on site for the duration.

You’ll be a fit if you have:
– Substantial outdoor leadership experience
– Comfort moving through Class 4 and 5 gorge environments – scrambling, swimming, exposure, cold water
– Senior First Aid and CPR, Remote Area First Aid (or ability to get this prior to commencement).
– The temperament to live and work on site for 6–12 weeks
– A real interest in geology, Country, and sharing trail with travellers from around the world
– The ability to hold a group steady when conditions shift, and the judgement to know when to turn around
– WWCC, current driver’s licence, and the right to work in Australia
